The Three Stooges, Curly Howard, and Dogs

Jerome Horwitz who is famously known as “Curly” of the three stooges was a stage and film actor.

His slapstick comedy and famous move of slapping his bald head brought laughter to many. The short films of the Three stooges remain popular to this day, having a cult following.

The little know fact about Curley was that he was a serious dog lover.

Many stories have been written about the three stooges, but this post is about the mostly unknown love, affection and charity Curley showed to our four-legged friends. In a Facebook post by Miranda Squires Magnus, she writes;

“Curly had a contract with Columbia Pictures included a clause that allowed him to bring his dogs on set. The studio limited him to no more than two dogs at any given time. This was due to Curly’s pups making random unplanned walk-on appearances during production. Especially during some of the more raucous scenes. You can still catch those surprise canine cameos in some of the earliest Three Stooges shorts.

“Typically having several dogs at any given time, Curly was known to come home often with strays he found along his travels. He would foster the strays until he was able to find new homes. And when the Stooges were on tour, Curly made it a point to rehome, at least, 1 stray in each town they visited. It is estimated that Curly saved and re-homed more than 5000 dogs in his lifetime – making him a man before his time with his humane concern for man’s best friend.”

Unfortunately, Curley died at the incredibly young age of 48. He suffered from obesity, high blood pressure, hypertension, and a retinal hemorrhage. He died on January 18th, 1952. I like to think he is in a heavenly dog park doing what he loved best, loving dogs.

Beer Commercial Ad Stars A ‘Talking Dog’ Who In A Twist Explains Why He Gives Beer To His Owner

Super Bowls are not only the one of biggest sporting events, but they are also known for making famous commercial. Companies spend large amounts of money hoping for a hit commercial. So of those commercials are duds, but some of the commercials become timeless classics.

Super Bowl XXXIV was some 20 years ago but featured such a famous and classic commercial. The commercial begins as a normal commercial.

As it continues you believe you watching a man brag about his dog and how he plays, exercises, and gets tired. Dogs and him running together playing together and working up quit a sweat.

Then comes the twist the narrative shows that is the dog, Fred, actually talking about his owner. It was a great twist for the time, you hardly saw any talking animals on TV.

The lead up continues, the close up happen and then Fred delivers the hit line.

“That’s why I give him Budweiser,” Fred, the dog, says. “I wouldn’t give him anything else.”

It’s a classic and hilarious.

Viscous Dog Chases Off Would Be Burglar

Viscous Dog Chases Off Would Be Burglar

You can see the burglar gleefully coming into the backyard of these homeowners looking for his big score. It was all captured on the home’s surveillance video.

His is casual looking around for the easiest entry point to the house. He quickly goes from peering into each window, to actual entry into the home. This is going to be his day, his big score and profit from his illegal activity. Quickly in and out like a thief in the night, only he’s so good he’s pulling this off in broad daylight!

Towards the end as the burglar actually enters the home, and we can only imagine him thinking “what was that”? Something has been watching me and they are on to me!  Next, you can see him running out faster that he went in. Out of the house, cross the yard, over the fence to Safety! What ever was in that house must be vicious!

Getting out of that yard wasn’t enough, he continued to scale the next fences as well, not only does he want to get out of that yard, but he needs to get out of that neighborhood. If this thing catches me, I’m a goner!

Now there is great anticipation. What kind of creature could cause such fear, such adrenaline to make him run out of there like a bolt of lightning?

Will we get to see this massive protector? At this point I’m assuming it’s a watch dog and I’m guessing a German Shephard, a Pit Bull of possibly a Doberman. The suspense is killing me at this point!

Finally, our hero appears at the end. Proving the age old saying, “It’s not the size of the dog, it’s the size of the fight in the dog”.

5 Wonderful Dog Breeds and Their Personalities

https://simpledoglogic.com/5-wonderful-dog-…ir-personalities/

Some people actually believe a dog is a dog and all dogs pretty much act the same. They could not be more incorrect. Truth is just about every different breed of dog has their own different traits and personalities.

Spending time with your dog will ultimately reveal his different traits over time. Many differ breeds of dogs are identified and known for their different personalities. Below are 5 dog breeds we have chosen and what kind of personalities that they are best known for.

5 DOG BREEDS

LABRADOR RETRIEVER

One of the all-time favorite dog breeds is the Labrador Retriever. This dog is very athletic and loves to exercise. If you are athletic, like to walk or jog this is an excellent dog for you. There are also very smart, and obedient which makes them an excellent choice for a family.

SIBERIAN HUSKY

Siberian Huskies are sometimes considered to be somewhat “aloof”. They are very self-confident and tend to just want to do their own thing. They love to be outdoors, and they love to play, especially outside. The are loving and friendly generally yet can show an aggressive behavior in certain circumstances.

FRENCH BULLDOG

The French Bulldog is one of the most popular small dog breeds. They are a very fun-loving breed that will give you hours of entertainment when they are pups, are mature into a very well-mannered adult. They do need to be raised with rule and discipline or there is a chance they can be unruly and “Barky”.

GERMAN SHEPHERD

German Shepherds can seem aloof but not overly aggressive. They are a highly intelligent breed and have incredibly good personalities. One of their traits is that they can be somewhat reserved and do not makes fiends easily. But once they have bonded with a person or a family, they are extremely protective and very loyal. This makes them an excellent choice for a watchdog.

CHOW CHOW

The Chow Chow is a serious, dignified dog. Their main personality trait is stubbornness, and they do not particularly care if you happy or pleased by them or not. Many compare the Chow Chow personality to that of a cat. They are however generally friendly and if raised properly can be a good and affectionate family dog. It is important to socialize this dog from a young age or he my think he is the pack leader of your family.

Just as with humans, personalities are not always easy to understand. So basic guidelines are helpful when you are considering adopting or purchasing a dog. Once you are an owner understanding your dog’s personality with help you and your dog have a less stressful relationship.

Other than their “wired” personality traits dogs can also mimic the personalities of their owners.

Here is a particularly good article on different dog personalities.
