Germans Upset Over New Dog Walking Law
Germany has a pending proposal that would require dog owners to walk their dogs at least twice a day totaling at least one hour of dog walking time.
Quoting the Food and Agriculture minister Julia Klöeckner, “Pets are not cuddly toys, their needs have to be considered,” adding that the animals must get sufficient exercise and not be left alone for the whole day.”
She also wants to ensure that dogs have “contact with environmental stimuli,” that can include with other animals, nature and people. Studies show that many dogs are not getting enough exercise and social training.
