One of the most important thinks for your dog’s health is maintaining a healthy weight. Factors to be considered are diet and exercise.
Is your Dog’s diet healthy?
Three factors to determine if your Dog has a healthy diet.
Check the Ribs: Put your thumbs of your dog’s backbone and gently spread your hands across the ribcage. Can you feel the ribs? Many dog’s have a thinker coat of hair but being able to feel the ribs is a good sign of a healthy diet.
Dogs Profile: Like us, looking at yourself in a full-length mirror can speak volumes. Is your dog’s abdomen hanging down or tight and snug behind its rib cage? A strong core is as important for dogs as it is for us.
Looking at your dog from above: Looking down on your dog, he should not appear to have an extra-large belly or appear to be bloated. A dog should have a thin profile as we do if we are in good shape and not overweight. If you dog appears overweight or even obese, it is time to make some adjustment in his diet and exercise.
